Elizabeth Lucci-Rimer
Psychologist
PhD
In my work with children and families, I aim to understand the whole picture of the child, family, and community. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices within a culturally-centered framework. I see parents as invaluable partners in their children’s wellbeing, and I work closely with parents to identify the problem, understand both the child and parent’s goals, and develop a plan together.
About me
Dr. Lucci-Rimer graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts where she studied English literature and Spanish. After college, she pursued a variety of work focused on education, including teaching English to elementary school students, teaching in Ecuador on a Fullbright scholarship, and working in the education technology sector.
Dr. Lucci-Rimer went back to graduate school and completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Colorado State University, where she specialized in community mental health with children and families in both English and Spanish. Her research focused on health disparities in the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities. She completed her doctoral internship at Denver Health, where she received training in general child/adolescent community mental health, integrated care, and infant/perinatal mental health. Dr. Lucci-Rimer then completed her postdoctoral training at OHSU with a dual position in pediatric integrated primary care and behavioral pediatrics.
Clinically, Dr. Lucci-Rimer loves working with children and adolescents of all ages and she enjoys helping children with a wide range of needs. She has a special place in her heart for infant and early childhood mental health, LGBTQ+ families and children, Latinx families, and children with developmental disabilities. She is proficient in offering clinical services in both Spanish and English, and proud to offer therapy services in Spanish at PANW. Dr. Lucci-Rimer practices in our Tigard office and Beaverton office.
Interests
Dr. Lucci-Rimer is a musician and huge fan of folk, bluegrass, and blues. She has been playing and singing since she was a teenager. She enjoys writing and performing songs both with her partner and with her brother, who taught her to play.
Dr. Lucci-Rimer values connecting with, building, and caring for her community. She loves finding ways to create inclusive spaces and to advocate for the needs of her community.
When she isn’t caring for patients or playing music, Dr. Lucci-Rimer loves to hike and explore, especially with her little one who can almost outrun her. She feels fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest where she continues to discover beautiful new places.
Family
Born and raised in southern Oregon, Dr. Lucci-Rimer is the youngest of four children brought up very triumphantly by a single mom. She is very close with her three older siblings and she moved back home to Oregon so that her little one could be raised near their big, beautiful family.
Dr. Lucci-Rimer and her spouse have an almost-three year old who is hilarious, beautiful, smart, and very active. Becoming a mom has been the most transformative experience of her life. She is constantly humbled by the things she learns about that goes into raising tiny humans. Motherhood has given her an immeasurable respect for other parents, especially those who face more systemic and personal challenges than she does, such as single parents and parents of children with disabilities. She has also learned that as a parent, your child’s wellbeing is the highest priority. This has given her a sense of deep respect and understanding with the families she serves.
