I enjoy guiding families that are just beginning or those who are expanding their love. I instill joy and confidence in families as they navigate how to feed their babies. My kind, compassionate care meets families where they are in whatever way they choose to feed their babies.
Winn started her path to being an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) with her three children, some of whom she was able to feed with her own milk and some with only formula. Being an IBCLC is one of the most rewarding roles she has ever experienced. Her passion for helping families first started with her RN degree from Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska while working in pediatrics and the labor/delivery departments. In 2013, she pursued her dream of becoming a lactation consultant after working with teen parents with their children. Since then, she has supported thousands of families in a variety of settings- clinics, hospitals, and in the comfort of their own homes. She also serves as a board member for local support groups. Winn practices in our Beaverton office and Portland office.
Winn stands strong with people within the LGBTQ+ community, not only while being a member of this community but also by being an advocate on the ground and beyond. She has received additional training from Queer Birth Network to help all families find joy and happiness in feeding their children. She believes that all people deserve to have a choice in how they feed- a choice that makes them comfortable and in an environment that celebrates who they are.
Out of the office, Winn enjoys getting her hands dirty while gardening. She loves planting and planning her garden every year. While she may not yet be completely “successful,” her tiny Holly farm is one place she can spend hours working in and dreaming about. Gardening has taught her that even if plans don’t go as well as we would have hoped, you can still find some happiness in what does evolve.
She loves anything and everything that involves cheese and personally consider this its own food group.
Winn is the first person in her family to go to college and graduate high school. She is the proud parent of three courageous and loving children/adults. Watching them grow and discover themselves continues to bring a smile to her heart. She and her girlfriend also share their home with many fur babies and must make daily choices to avoid growing this part of their family!
