Richelle M. Neal MD, FAAP
Passionate and personable, I believe my role as a pediatrician is more than diagnosis and treatment – it is about prevention and building relationships with the entire family – from birth through young adulthood. Empathetic, but also straightforward, I aim to empower parents and instill confidence and trust in each of my patients.
Dr. Neal is a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Knowing at a young age she wanted to become a Pediatrician, Dr. Neal started the journey as an undergraduate at Santa Clara University. There, she graduated cum laude from the Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Neal obtained her medical degree from the University of Washington, participating in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) Underserved Programs. She joined PANW after completion of her pediatric internship and residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Residency. Dr. Neal spent extra time in residency focusing on pediatric sports medicine issues, and has a particular interest within this field of pediatrics. With this special interest and additional training, Dr. Neal sees patients of PANW’s Concussion Clinic, ensuring a safe return to school and sports. She practices in our Tigard office.
Outdoor and Sports Advocate
Dr. Neal is a firm believer that one of the best preventative medicines is to get outdoors and to be active in nature. Whether it is on her daily walks, hiking throughout beautiful Oregon, or playing soccer – it is not uncommon to see her being active in the Portland area. In addition, she has been known to be seen cheering on the Portland Thorns or attending Oregon football and basketball games. Being an avid sports fan, Dr. Neal has attended a Super Bowl, Women’s World Cup, Basketball Final Four, and a College Football Championship. She hopes one day to see a Men’s World Cup Final and an Olympic Sporting Event.
With the goal of traveling to all 50 states, Dr. Neal is well on her way, having visited 35 states thus far, but her favorite is Oregon. In addition to exploring the vast United States, through national parks and local area cuisines, she has started to expand abroad, visiting over a dozen countries. Do not hesitate to offer suggestions of your favorite places to visit the next time you see Dr. Neal!
Dr. Neal is a daughter and dog mother. Being from Eugene, Oregon, she feels blessed that she gets to share in the achievement of the common goal she, her mother, and late father set out to become a Pediatrician and return to Oregon. These days, in addition to being dedicated to family, Dr. Neal has been busy training Riley, her cavapoo puppy.
Dr. Neal loves spicy food, and enjoys the restaurants like Lechon and Andina, but is still in search of the best spice in the Portland area. As someone who frequently enjoys hiking, she has recently explored the Diamond Lake area in the Umpqua National Forest. Being a native Oregonian, Dr. Neal knows how to ride a unicycle!
Being a Pediatrician is the best job in the world! This has been Dr. Neal’s lifelong dream and she has loved being welcomed into the lives of PANW’s patients and into the community.
