M. Allison Baynham MD, FAAP
I chose "pediatrician" at my third grade career fair and haven't looked back since. As a firm believer in "it takes a village," I lead group well child visits ages 4 months through 18 months for first time parents. These visits allow parents an opportunity to bond with others going through similar struggles, the chance to problem-solve as a team, and to observe a wide variety of normal development at each age. The best part is watching the group become friends over time!
Dr. Baynham is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Virginia, where she double majored in French and Biology as an undergraduate. She then completed her internship and residency training at the University of California, San Francisco with a focus on primary care. She is dedicated to the promotion of healthy eating and exercise habits for her patients. Dr. Baynham practices in our Tigard office.
Dr. Baynham played softball from elementary through middle school and then took up running in high school. She has continued to run and participates in several local races each year. She began practicing yoga in 2009 for the cross training and mindfulness benefits. While training for the Portland Marathon in 2014, she expanded her cross training to include barre, pilates, and cycling. She and her husband ran the Holiday 5k in 2017 for Girls on the Run and she encourages anyone with an interest in running to become involved with their mentorship program.
Dr. Baynham has always enjoyed cooking, and of course, eating. In residency, she worked with a local school to promote leadership and healthy eating habits among middle school students by implementing a school based garden. At the end of the year, the students used the vegetables they grew in a cooking demonstration led by a local celebrity chef. She often experiments in the kitchen and keeps tabs on the latest and greatest in the food scene in Portland.
Dr. Baynham and her husband recently welcomed their first child in to the family with a baby girl. As a provider, she has a new understanding and empathy for parents of colicky infants.
Hawaii has been a longtime favorite vacation spot for Dr. Baynham and her family. Her most memorable experience was swimming with dolphins in the wild on the big island. In an effort to bring some Hawaiian spirit to Portland, she brought back a plumeria stalk from her last trip. The plumeria spent the winter months in the Tigard office putting down roots and is now thriving in the sunshine. Look for plumeria blooms to welcome you in the Tigard office one day!
Dr. Baynham’s favorite food is ice cream and she loves engaging in debates about the rankings of Portland ice cream shops. She will usually be up to date on the seasonal offerings at Salt and Straw and have some strong opinions to share. Dr. Baynham and her family enjoy spending the day at Sauvie Island, Cannon Beach, or taking a hike in Forest Park. Favorite part about working at PANW is being part of a team of such friendly, knowledgeable, and capable providers that all share the same basic philosophy when it comes to providing medical care, yet each has his or her own unique area of expertise to offer so that patients can always find the right fit for their family.
