FamilyCare CCO Closure

January 17, 2018

January 29th, 2018

Pediatric Associates of the Northwest (PANW) is pleased to inform you that HealthShare has extended the length of time that FamilyCare patients may continue to see behavioral health providers who are not in-network with HealthShare.

FamilyCare patients who are currently receiving treatment from a PANW psychologist will be able to continue to receive care from that psychologist through July 31, 2018.

We thank you for your patience as we continue to learn more about this transition.  Please contact your PANW psychologist if you have any questions or concerns about the FamilyCare transition.

Sincerely,

Tamara Pederson, PhD

To Our Valued FamilyCare Patients and Families,

Thank you for continuing to follow our updates regarding FamilyCare’s decision to cease operations as of January 31, 2018. As this transition occurs, we know it may be confusing for many of our patients. There are still a number of details to be worked out, but as of the last few days, we continue to have more clarity on how the transition process will occur and which health plan you will be covered under after the transition. All Pediatric Associates of the Northwest’s patients currently covered by FamilyCare will be switched to a newly created plan called Providence ACO, with coverage commencing February 1st. You do not need to take any action. This change will occur automatically. We have heard from some families that they have already been reassigned to another health plan by the state. This may or may not be related to the FamilyCare closure. Please realize that you can elect to change your health plan after an assignment by the state, though you’ll have to make that change yourself.

Will the transition proceed without any hiccups? Probably not, as large conversions related to computers rarely go exactly as planned or hoped. However, we will be available to help you any way we can.

We truly value the relationships we’ve developed with all of our families at Pediatric Associates of the Northwest and it is our sincere goal to continue in these relationships whenever possible. Please reach out if you have questions during this transition.

Sincerely,

The Providers and Staff of Pediatric Associates of the Northwest

To our Valued FamilyCare patients:

You have likely heard that FamilyCare will cease operations as a Portland area Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) as of January 31st, 2018. This change may unfortunately affect the behavioral health care treatment that you/your child have been receiving at Pediatric Associates of the Northwest (PANW).

Individuals who are currently covered by FamilyCare will continue to have coverage from the Oregon Health Plan but will be likely be transitioned to Care Oregon.  Medical care providers at PANW are contracted with Care Oregon and would enjoy the opportunity to continue to provide services to you under this plan.  Regrettably, PANW’s behavioral health Care providers are not contracted with Care Oregon, due to requirements specified by them.  While there are initiatives within the community that might allow us to eventually contract with Care Oregon, we are uncertain whether or when this would happen.  In the interim, Care Oregon has stated that they will allow prior FamilyCare patients to continue to see their out-of-network behavioral health care provider for 90 days.

We have greatly valued our work with our FamilyCare patients, and are saddened to learn that we may be unable to continue to provide behavioral health care for you/your child. Your family’s well-being remains a priority for us, and we are grateful to have been a part of your treatment.

We thank you for your patience as we continue to learn what options will be available regarding behavioral health care for your family in this evolving situation.  At this time, we do know that your PANW psychologist will be able to continue to provide services for you/your child through March 31, 2018.

We welcome the opportunity to talk with you directly about this upcoming change. If your child is not scheduled to see their PANW psychologist in the next week, please contact Kelly Jacobson, Behavioral Health Care Manager, at 503-968-3487.  Kelly can provide additional information and can coordinate a phone call with your child’s psychologist, if needed.

Most sincerely,

Tamara Pederson, Ph.D. | Justin Bush, Ph.D. | Shannon Odell, Psy.D. | Todd Hiller, Ph.D.

To Our Valued FamilyCare Patients and Families,

Many of you have undoubtedly heard that FamilyCare will cease operations as a Portland area Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) as of January 31st, 2018.

What this means for all those who have had their Oregon Health Plan insurance provided by FamilyCare is not clear at this time.  We do, however, want all of our families to know that Pediatric Associates of the Northwest is dedicated to continuing to care for them during this time of transition.

It’s important to note that for anyone currently covered by FamilyCare their insurance coverage through the Oregon Health Plan will not be terminated, but you will be required to eventually choose another CCO health plan.  We also want you to know that, aside from FamilyCare, Pediatric Associates of the Northwest is also contracted with Care Oregon and Providence OHP.  We do not participate with Kaiser’s OHP product, so if you elected that as your alternate we would not be able to provide care for you and your family.

We highly value all the relationships we’ve developed with our families at Pediatric Associates of the Northwest, and we would really enjoy continuing the relationships we have with our FamilyCare patients.

As mentioned above, there are a lot of unknowns regarding this transition, but as we gain further knowledge and understanding be assured that we’ll communicate this as well as we can.  Please check back to our website frequently for ongoing updates.

Sincerely,

The Providers and Staff of Pediatric Associates of the Northwest
