Connie Evers, MS, RD, LD recognized as the 2013 Oregon Outstanding Dietitian of the Year
Connie has over 30 years of experience as a registered dietitian in hospitals, research, public speaking with media coverage, consulting, and promotion of health and wellness in Iowa, Texas, and Oregon as well as nationally. Connie has truly paved the road as a female entrepreneur; she has done this with great tenacity and passion through her own business as a nutrition consultant.
Connie graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska and completed her internship and Master of Science degree in nutrition from University of Iowa.
Children’s health is one of Connie’s greatest priorities; she is a business owner of a nutrition consulting practice called Nutrition for Kids. Connie works with schools, universities, and USDA child nutrition programs throughout the nation. She has published many books and developed programs, writing materials and hands-on training to educators, health care professionals and parents.
Connie is also highly involved with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at the state and national level as well as other local organizations. Connie has held multiple committee and chair positions within her practice groups and local dietetic associations including the School Nutrition Services Dietetic Practice Group, Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group, Portland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Houston Area Dietetic Association, and Iowa Dietetic Association. Outside of the Academy, Connie is a committee member of the School Nutrition Association and currently on the Board of Directors for Child Care Development Services. Connie has also been involved with nutrition policy in Washington D.C. Within these organizations, Connie has contributed hundreds of newspaper columns, newsletter articles, website content development, blogs, and much more.
Public speaking is another one of Connie’s most admirable attributes; she has thousands of hours as a public speaker at conferences, worshops, and also through media coverage. Connie has over 150 television appearances throughout the nation including CNN and large media markets such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and many others. She has presented at multiple Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food & Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) meetings and state conferences, as well as presentations within the community throughout the years to promote health and wellness.
Connie is a valuable, honorable role model for nutrition professionals at a local and national level. Her passion empowers those around her.
